It is an affinity and respect for the wildness of our lands that has kept the Seldovia area an idyllic paradise through the centuries. Our humble attempt to share with you this natural beauty, the rich value of our area, is evident in the Outside Beach Courtyard. Inspired by age old traditions, the simple pleasures of village life have been recreated. A patio off Camel Rock begins the journey as a bridge between our ancestors' past and future. Sunrise to sunset, this quiet flower- filled courtyard is the hidden treasure of the Dimond Center Hotel. A barbeque is available for guests to celebrate fresh caught salmon on a warm summer night. Driftwood, seashells, and beach peas bring the sea breeze to mind. The lustrous sand of Outside Beach, the river beauty and cotton grass, surround the picnic areas with memories of seaside dining. Hidden behind a fanciful grove of reclaimed iron evergreens is a fish and game freezer for guest use. Hang your caribou, cache your salmon, or load up the bulk steaks you just purchased and they will be frozen solid by morning. Two life-sized wooly mammoths, sculptured from reclaimed steel, gate this park like setting - sheltering it as a world to itself. It is a place of rest, reflection, and laughter. Nestled among the flowerbeds are rocks from around the globe - a unique geological phenomenon allowed them to find their way over the eras to the Seldovia area via the shifting plates of the earth's crust. |
